Success Is Your Assignment – Ace It!

It’s that time of year again. The leaves are starting to turn, the weather is cooling, and the kids are heading back to school. For many of us, this time of year brings a sense of renewal and motivation. We’re inspired to set new goals, learn new things and make positive changes in our lives. Hence, more success!
I love Earl Nightingale’s definition of success “…the progressive realization of a worthy goal or ideal.” As a coach and consultant, your success and growth are not only good for you, but also for your clients and the people you serve. Your success is also your client’s success. When you’re thriving and reaching new levels of excellence, your clients benefit from your insights, knowledge, and new experiences. They also benefit from your positive example of determination and focus. Yes, the world is always watching and noticing you and your thought leadership. As a leader and trusted advisor, your success demonstrates what’s possible for them, no matter their circumstances. It inspires them to aim higher and go after their own goals with renewed vigor and commitment. Fundamentally, success leads to more success.
As a mentor coach and consultant, I often hear people say things like, “I’m not doing anything new or risky now. With all of the uncertainty in the economy, politics, etc., I’m just focused on maintaining what I have.” But the truth is, if you’re not growing and taking risks, you’re falling behind. Maintaining the status quo is not an option if you want to be next-level successful. You must continually grow and develop, or you’ll become stagnant by “auditing the classes” of life instead going for the “A” and the extra credit. Learning new things keeps you relevant and top of mind with your clients and partners. It also helps you prevent burnout by keeping you engaged and excited both personally and professionally.
The world is constantly changing and evolving, and you need to change and evolve with it. The world is calling for you to create innovative solutions and greater value in the ways that only you can – hence more success and thought leadership.
So, what are you doing to uplevel your success? Here are key strategies on how to do it with back-to-school spirit:
- Clarify your goals. What do you want to achieve in the next 6 – 12 months? What kind of impact do you want to make? What steps will you need to take to get there? Getting clear on your goals is the first step to achieving them. Write them down and share them with your coach, trusted advisors, and mastermind group.
- Commit and invest in yourself. Get the advanced mentoring, learning and success coaching you need. Everyone, I mean everyone, should have an excellent coach (or two or three). We can’t get “out of the box” until we see we’re in one and a skilled coach will help you get unstuck, save precious time and ultimately accelerate your success.
- Take action. Once you know what you want to achieve, it’s time to act. Learning is great, but it’s only valuable if you take action. Make a plan and implement what you’ve learned to lead your coaching and consulting business to greater impact. What are you waiting for? Don’t let fear, confusion, or procrastination hold you back from reaching your highest potential. Your clients and the world are waiting for you!
- Take excellent care of yourself. Because success is your assignment, you need to be physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually healthy. Make sure you’re getting enough sleep, exercising, and refueling yourself regularly. Feed your soul as well as your body with healthy, whole, nutrient-rich foods and beverages. You absolutely deserve the best health and vitality!
Congratulations on accepting your assignment for greater success. Committing to grow and expand is not always easy, but it’s worth it. By implementing these key strategies, you’ll not only be setting yourself up for a successful year ahead, but also positioning yourself as a highly sought-after thought leader and trusted advisor. It’s time to get back-to-school! Make success a priority and go after it with everything you’ve got.
