I coach lots of people in varying fields. Those who prosper have three important things that help them build the deep and meaningful networks that continually propel their lives and careers. Without these three important ingredients, we fish in the same ponds, limit our success and hit a ceiling fast.

So, what are the three things?

1. Possess.
You have to possess something other people want a piece of. I believe this is in the form of seven key ingredients:

  • Unique knowledge. It is obvious you have paid the price to be the 100 percent expert.
  • Uncanny skills. The way you deliver your knowledge is impeccable.
  • Innate desire. Your “passion is packaged.”
  • Intuitive confidence. You inspire trust in people, and they believe in you and your vision.
  • Incredible likability. We don’t stick around long for people we don’t like.
  • Easy connectivity. You are “good for all time zones”
  • Deep networks. You wake up and go give.

We cannot give away what we don’t possess, and you must have something to give away something.

2. Position.
If you wanted to be a movie star, I would tell you to move to Hollywood. If you wanted to be a country music star, I would suggest moving to Nashville. If you want to grow your followers and customers, you’ve got to go where the goods are. Too many people hang around the same people and limit their opportunities by closing the door on where it’s at. Get out of the comfort space you are in, and get around other big-time performers. Put yourself in a position to attract the right people.

3. Pizazz.
All bark and no bite makes for a dull dog. All sizzle with no steak makes you normal. People used to say, “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know.” I would add, “Then you better know.” Big-time performers can always detect when you are not the real deal and haven’t paid the price.
The Pizazz is that you have both the “steak and the sizzle.” You have the passion and the pop. You have the energy and the content, and you have the know-how and the competencies. You have proven you can navigate in the shark-filled waters of playing at the highest levels and you’ve survived, and now are willing to go to work on the three P’s.  You’ll see your networks move to new levels of performance.
