Host Jeffrey Hayzlett talked to Nagarjuna about how age of analytics is helping bridge the digital divide and what’s causing that divide. Nagarjuna said that there are plenty of divisions that exist as a result of capitalism, among them: economic divide, geographical divide, coastal and educational divides. He argues that, if properly deployed, AI has the capability of bridging that gap because of all the technology that brings much needed services to people far away from the urban centers worldwide.
Many fear that AI will replace humans, but Nagarjuna disagrees, saying that AI will “augment human intelligence” and human supervision will continue to insert itself in the decisions AI is making. Ethics is also a big issue facing the AI industry but Nagarjuna asserts there are safeguards and processes in place to ensure full compliance. Companies are also taking the necessary steps to make sure those creating solutions understand the potential, and the ramifications, of AI.
Hayzlett also inquired about why transformation has such a high failure rate and Nagarjuna responded there are two fundamental drivers that determine whether a company will succeed or fail: management innovation and business model innovation. He added, “If you’re not reorganizing yourself and changing the way you’re operating and being able to adapt to the changes happening within the marketplace at a faster pace, then you’re likely to fail.”
Nagarjuna believes that AI is the “4th Industrial Revolution” and that we have only begun to scratch the surface because AI touches every industry and its potential will only continue to grow. While there’s still apprehension about AI as a whole, executives are mostly on board with the advantages AI can bring to the workforce. Nagarjuna’s company believes in co-creation between technology and humans to solve tomorrow’s digital problems, but he reveals the most frequent question asked by executives is “Where do I begin?”
