Host Jeffrey Hayzlett talked to Kidd about how the idea of having content in places like elevators, that for some seemed a bit out of the ordinary, provided the perfect setting to carry a specific message to the masses. Kidd’s initial skepticism derived from the fact that in its early stages, videos lacked motion. As an unwired network serving mostly working professionals in urban markets, Kidd saw plenty of potential to create a system that served as a network. He adds, “If we’re going to be a real network, we have to program it like a real network.”
A conversation with his son enlightened him to the impact of which providing video content could change the way people consumed media.
Elevators, he says, “are the largest transportation system in the world,” and there were plenty of opportunities to distribute small nuggets of memorable and engaging content giving people something to do while in an elevator.
Content is everywhere — from buildings, to billboards, to modes of transportation. As a company, Captivate provides relevant information and content via small screens that rotate every few seconds, as the average attention span is a mere eight seconds. To ensure the branding reaches the right audience, they ask their customer base for their feedback on a regular basis so the content that is delivered in a way that resonates with everyone who rides an elevator.
