Consider/Ask: Radical Mindset Musings
Consider/Ask: Radical Mindset Musings
- Jeffrey’s childhood was heavily influenced by the war, as his dad was in the military. His family was never really poor, but they weren’t rich either. When his father was gone, he took on the responsibilities of the man of the house.
- Work can be a vice – some people are alcoholics, but Jeffrey is a workaholic. It can be hard; you have to learn when it’s getting dangerous.
- His parents split at a young age, and it was hard to watch different men come into his mother’s life; it distorted his image of what a home should look like, and made him feel on the outside of things.
- Being able to seek your own hobbies and reach out and connect with other people who allow us to feel good about who we are, helps us form the building blocks of resilience.
- In everything that we do, there is a customer and a performance. This changes in given situations, and you have to consider your conditions of satisfaction in each.
- Treat others the way you want to be treated: if I treat you one way, you should be able to treat me that way.
- Jeffrey’s depression is seasonal – he has learned to look out for different times of the year so he can anticipate those times and how to cope with it.
- To be able to take care of ourselves during the times when depression sets in, we have to take care of ourselves during all the other times as well. This can be eating well, or giving ourselves time to get away.
- Jeffrey discusses some of the points of his marriage that make his and his wife’s relationship so healthy.
- The more you give and the more you serve, the more you get back.
- Benefits of C-Suite: education and the shortcuts you learn as part of it, network outside of your own community, and access to capital.
Revolutionary Leader’s Mantra: Don’t dwell too much on the past. It shapes who we are, but it doesn’t define us in term of what we will be or what we really are. We can always change that.
