On today’s bonus episode, Mitch Martens (Cedars-Sinai) stops by for a fantastic chat. Mitch is the Employee Wellness Administrator at Cedars-Sinai Health System in Los Angeles, CA. For the past 20+ years, Mitch has cultivated academic and professional experiences and applied them to the importance of turning theory into practical applications. With 14 years of proven success in behavioral health interventions and a keen understanding of best practices, he has been strategically building a top performing and innovative worksite wellness program. Cedars-Sinai is committed to our people, to the communities we serve and to advancing medicine. As we strive to improve the health of our own employees and prepare for future successes; collaboration and strategic alignment with community partners are key. Mitch is actively engaged with select industry leaders and peer organizations, including WELCOA, HERO, American Journal of Health Promotion, Hospital Association of Southern CA, American Heart Association, Anthem Blue Cross, and the National Association of Mobile Health Clinics. The Employee Wellness Program at Cedars-Sinai has 3 basic objectives: 1. Cultivate a culture of wellness 2. Improve the health of our employees 3. Reduce healthcare costs Under Mitch’s leadership, the employee wellness program has received numerous awards including the WELCOA Well Workplace University Certification, American Heart Association’s Platinum Certified Fit Friendly Certification and was recently selected as a Work@Health worksite, a CDC sponsored program.
