Charisse Higgins and Gia Lowe: ‘Curlfest: a sea of beautiful people’
Charisse Higgins and Gia Lowe are the founders of Curlfest, a celebration of wearing your natural hair and the acceptance of African-American and feminine cultures. Higgins and Lowe stop into the Bold TV studio to discuss the movement toward being more accepting of the black community and female empowerment with GenBiz and the C-Suite Network. Curlfest unites people of all races and genders to celebrate your natural self, and big brands finally realize the power of these communities in our society. They explain to GenBiz’s David Grasso that Curlfest joins people together, but also provides a platform for brands and small businesses to connect as well. Higgins and Lowe also talk with the C-Suite Network about Brittany Noble Jones and how she got fired for wearing her natural hair on television. They also discuss the other leaders of the movement and how they are influencing others to support.
